A/W 2012 Collection Line Up Updated!

Sorry it's been a week since the last post but I was on holiday in Gran Canaria! Had an amazing time but now it's time to get the whip cracking again and get myself back on track.

Looking over the last post I realised that the final line up wasn't finished completely! I still had to add the colours of my fabrics to them! So here is the updated final line up in colour along with the colour board and the key garment of the collecton.

A/W 2012 Collection Final Line Up & Flat Drawings Line Up

Well it's finally done! The collection has been designed and finalized but changes will still probably occur during the making stage so when the collection is finally made it may look different in some ways to the line up.

It's now time to move on to the toiles! It feels like it has been a long time coming that has finally arrived. Still have the colour and fabric board to do but that wont take that long so will add them on tomorrow's post along with photos of my studio space where I will be giving a presentation to the 1st years on Wednesday.

A/W 2012 Collection Inspirational Designs

The final line up is almost finished! Just two more tops to design on illustrator and the collection is complete and ready to be molded to a models figure to then fully complete the final line up. Should be finished tonight so that can be tomorrow's post!

Today's post is giving you all a glimpse of some of the original inspirational designs I have drawn. My idea was to draw designs inspired by as many of the different research paths that I have went down. This was to give me a wide range of different silhouettes and details happening within the garments. Since my theme is shadows I wanted to create a collection that would alter the look of the bodies form and create unusual shadows (to be captured on the catwalk, photo shoots etc.). Because of this look I wanted to create I did not develop a key silhouette for the whole collection as this would make all the outfits the same shape and therefor they would create the same shadow. So I decided to make a final line up of the theatrical designs and develop the different silhouettes, details and shapes from these designs into a collection that mixed toned down versions of these garments and garments that still keep that theatrical look.

Hopefully tomorrow's post will be the fully completed final line up, but that's only if I get it finished tonight so will just have to wait and see.

A/W 2012 Collection Styling & Magazine Front Cover Mockup

As promised it's now after 12am so the new day has come and the next post in the series of my A/W 2012 menswear collection. If your wondering why I'm jumping to styling instead of showing design developments it's because I would rather publish the design developments with the final line up (when it's ready!) to show the thought processes to the final outcome more clearly. From the small taster of my research in the previous post you can probably see that the abominations was a strong theme and so I thought I had to take this further. I initially drew a few designs incorporating aspects of humanoid animals but while designing I began to realise that trying to mix garments with shadow elements and the abomination aspects they started to look O.T.T. So I then made the decision to make the abominations the styling to accompany the collection and base the garments purely around the shadow ideas.

Depending on the "evolving" changes to the collection the styling maybe scrapped if it would make the collection too O.T.T but hopefully not as I think this would give the collection a good look but we will just have to wait and see.

For the magazine front cover mock up I used the abomination styling images I created as they are very strong and make a striking look for a magazine front cover. So if the styling does get scrapped in the collection at least it wont have been a complete waste of time and can be used within the magazine.

A/W 2012 Collection: Research

Been trying to get around to doing this since my last post but been far to busy doing work for the collection and the magazine. I have loads to put on here but want to do it in order and start from the beginning so everything just flows better. But found myself a spare couple of minutes in the studio yesterday and today to finally do it.

Anyway here is a couple of pages out of my sketchbook showing some of the different themes I've researched that fall under my main inspiration, that being shadows. I couldn't find my good camera so I had to make do with my rubbish one which adds a green shadow/light screen across the photos that I actually ended up liking and think adds a bit of ambiance to them. Glad I found this out could be use full later on in the year.

There is so much more research in my sketchbook but I'm afraid it would take forever to show you everything so this is just a taster. Tomorrow's post will be styling and the mock up of the magazines front cover!
